Acclaimed Ghanaian director Peter Sedufia has begun production on his latest film, One Night Guests, kicking off with an exciting press conference at Silverbird Galleria in Lagos. Produced by prominent Nigerian filmmaker Chris Odeh, the film has already created a buzz as a collaborative project uniting Ghanaian and Nigerian film talents.
The festive comedy centers on Olumide, a wealthy father with a yearly tradition of hiring a Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and an Elf to cheer up his troubled daughter. This year, however, things take a surprising turn when two unexpected trios show up, casting doubt on whether they’re genuine winners of Olumide’s contest or clever impostors. The story blends humor and suspense while exploring themes of compassion, privilege, and personal growth, ultimately transforming Olumide’s view on life.
At the press event, Peter Sedufia described Lagos as the perfect backdrop for the film, saying, “the city’s vibrancy and cultural depth bring an unparalleled energy to this project.” Sedufia shared his enthusiasm for creating a unique film experience by fusing the narrative styles of both Ghana and Nigeria.
The film will be shot entirely in Lagos and is set for a dual premiere on Christmas Day 2024 in theaters across Nigeria and Ghana. Produced in partnership by OldFilm Productions (Ghana), Sozo Films (Nigeria), and Gravel Road Studios (South Africa), One Night Guests is poised to be a holiday favorite, celebrating empathy and the joy of unexpected connections. Directed by Peter Sedufia, known for hits like Keteke, the film promises to further solidify his impact on West African cinema, highlighting the strength of cross-cultural storytelling and unity.
