Rev. Fr. Peter Kusi Twumasi, the Acting Rector of St. Stephen Rectorate in Bodomase, has issued a heartfelt apology after a video went viral showing him singing the secular song ‘Aseda’ by King Paluta during a church service. The video, which spread widely on social media, featured Fr. Twumasi leading the congregation in singing and dancing to the popular song.
The video received mixed reactions online, with some people approving the song due to its Gospel-like lyrics, while others criticized the use of a secular song in a religious setting.
In a letter dated August 13, 2024, addressed to Rev. Fr. Bernard Antwi-Bosiako, a representative of the National Liturgical Commission, Fr. Twumasi expressed deep regret for his actions. He acknowledged that he had allowed secular influences into a sacred environment and apologized for any offence or scandal caused.
