X may be launching its payment system on the platform sooner than anticipated. An app researcher recently shared a screenshot that appears to show a new “Payments” option located below the Bookmarks button in the app’s navigation bar. Under this new tab, users reportedly found options related to transactions, balance, and transfers.
X Payments, a subsidiary of the social media company owned by Elon Musk, has already secured money transmitter licenses in 33 U.S. states. These licenses are essential for companies wishing to engage in money transfers within the country, as reported by TechCrunch.

By potentially accelerating the rollout of the payment feature, X could be seeking to develop alternative revenue streams, particularly in light of recent difficulties monetizing the platform through advertising. X recently filed a lawsuit against advertising groups that boycotted the platform, leading to significant financial losses for the company.
