Ghanaian actor and comedian Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, known as Dr. Likee, recently revealed startling details about his past in an interview with actress Emelia Brobbey on her Okukuseku show.
Dr. Likee confessed to being involved in the illicit drug trade after dropping out of secondary school. Facing numerous challenges, he initially worked as a scrap dealer before becoming a landguard.
Dr. Likee explained that he was introduced to the drug trade by a man he considered a mentor, who had returned from the United States.
Seeking financial stability, he entered the drug trade and enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle.
He recounted frequent arrests, revealing that he had been convicted six times for drug-related offenses.
“When you’re on the streets, the goal is to make money, and there are ways to do so without resorting to armed robbery.
If you have the courage, you can deal in illicit drugs. I was arrested every week and often found myself at the police station,” he said.
Dr. Likee also mentioned his mistrust of everyone, including his mother and girlfriend, due to his line of work.
He shared that a close friend once accused him of being an armed robber because he stayed home during the day and worked only at night.
Despite his troubled past, Dr. Likee has successfully reinvented himself and is now a prominent figure in the Kumawood film industry.
